Vision

Background: Vision is the act or power of anticipating that which will or may come to be.

P31v25b she rejoices over the future [the latter day or time to come, knowing that she and her family are in readiness for it]!

P31v21 She fears not the snow for her family, for all her household are doubly clothed in scarlet.

Some things are no surprise. You can easily plan for them. But other things cannot be anticipated. But the results can be the same as if you planned. Verse 25 says that the P31 rejoices about the future because the family is ready for it. Whatever comes down the pipe can be managed with vision. Things that come are not always good, sometimes they are bad. But those too can be managed.

The way we live our lives now, can ready us for any situation. We all know that our children are going to be adults one day. To be honest, some of us know that a college education may not be in the budget. So while they are children, we should honing in on their gifts, connecting them with the right resources and people, and setting a course for someone else to pay their way. It may be the opposite for others. You have a child that hates school, can’t stand sitting at desk, won’t turn in their homework if their life depended on it. Don’t give up, they may have a change of heart, but if they don’t, plan for their success anyway. College isn’t for everyone, but you must have a skill to make it in this world.

Our careers are another area where we must have vision, we have to see where that path will end. If not, we end up in a job with very little potential for promotion, at a company that is not right for us. If you don’t meet the qualifications for a promotion, that should be a clue that you either need to make the necessary sacrifices that put you in position for a promotion or you look into another position that you will qualify for a promotion. I’d probably say that not many of us do what we love for a living. Let’s say you love to cook, but in order to pay the bills, you work a desk job. If your passion can’t be your full-time gig, make sure you set aside time to indulge in your passions. They have a purpose and should not be cast aside.

Families and marriage are an area where people don’t have any vision. They just allow time and life to change their families instead of anticipating and preparing for change, so that its impact is in your favor. If you want a hot marriage, see it that way and make the frequent adjustments to ensure it will stay that way for years to come. Your family has a destination. Time and life may push your family in directions that you can’t always anticipate, but as long as you keep moving forward, you can reach the point that you envisioned. Having a vision gives you purpose and a goal, so whenever things start going left, you have a reference point to go back to.

Even if years have gone by and you have not envisioned anything for your life, it is never too late to start.
