Spite (n): A desire to hurt, annoy, or offend someone
(v): Deliberately hurt, annoy or offend
Now I was not to the point of hurting anyone, but offending someone was imminent. I wrote a post several months ago that discussed some ways to back down off of those emotional cliffs. I must admit, it took a few attempts and some noncompliance to my own advice to finally come down off that cliff. I’m going to be real right now, so brace yourself. The P31 was not perfect (I see your look of shock and horror at my blasphemous words). Despite the 21 verses of accolades and inspiration, when it all boils down to it, she was simply a God-fearing woman (not to be confused with a woman who is not God-fearing, that woman, when stripped of her accolades, can be a mess).
That’s all. She had more obedient days than she had disobedient days. As I looked at the passage, I could easily correlate other scriptures in the Bible that instruct us to do the things that she did. Which is no surprise, God’s instructions on how man should conduct himself in the earth was not new when the P31 walked the earth and it’s not new today. The P31 was simply an obedient, God-fearing woman. I’m sure she had her spiteful days, I’m sure she made mistakes, I know she did, because her name wasn’t Jesus. So I say all this to hopefully encourage someone who’s having “one of those days”. They are a natural occurrence, we just have to remain obedient inspite of the ungodly desires that come along with “one of those days”. That is what what makes you priceless and worth more than the finest jewels. The ability to be obedient to God’s word and his leading.
That other woman I mentioned earlier will do her own thing on a spiteful day, which is hurt, annoy and offend. But we, the brave P31s, love God more than we love ourselves, and we choose to do what is right in His eyes, rather than yield to emotion, which can lead to sin. Put your mind at rest when you have a bad day, they don’t last for more than 24 hours (don’t let the sun go down on your wrath). They are natural occurrences and the way we respond makes us excel all other women.
